There are a number of small sofa beds on the market, and also some as small as chairs, with a single bed layout. Small sofa beds are also ideal for children, and can also be used in conjunction with a large sofa bed. They are ideal for small rooms, and also for a chair in the main room, giving extra bed space if you need it.

Small sofa beds use a similar mechanism as recliner chairs.  A recliner is an armchair that reclines when the sitter lowers the chair's back and raises its front. It has a backrest that can be tilted back, causing a footrest to extend from the front.
